Best South Indian Food Outside of India!Hands down the best South Indian food I’ve had outside of India. The dosas are paper-thin, and the vadas are crisp on the outside and soft inside. The coconut chutney is out of this world. It’s as close as you can get to the authentic street food of Tamil Nadu. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a real taste of South India.
The food was delicious, beautifully presented and interesting. The atmosphere was lovely too. This is a great place for a special dining experience or celebration

Outstanding service, amazing friendly owners who always have time to talk, advise and serve the clientele. Great food and lovely atmosphere. Would strongly advise visiting for evening meals or just a drink.

Hunter’s is definitely a great place to eat and worth the drive to Findlay Creek-a little south of the city. From the amazing food to the friendly staff it has a nice atmosphere with live music to boot!
Delicious ramen, lovely atmosphere, and friendly service at this Japanese restaurant. Loved it! Will be back for sure!
This is a busy, somewhat crowded restaurant with good but not outstanding food. A mix-up in the timing of my reservation created a problem for the greeter, who was less than helpful, considering that there were many empty tables. In contrast, the wait staff were friendly and helpful. Most guests were seniors on a Saturday night.
Fantastic Italian deli with a small area at the back serving fantastic freshly made lunch with interesting menu and great service. They also sell great readymade meals. Hugely recommended.
Before we began our travels in North America, everyone recommended us to ‘try a beaver tail!’ And we are so glad we did! We have tried both the chocolate brownie and the original cinnamon, they were both delicious. It’s also affordable and a quick bite to eat. Would thoroughly recommend and we will be joining the group of people who recommend others to try it!
Delicious food, my friend had her appetizer upsized at the suggestion of the server to a meal size. Portions are what you expect for this type of restaurant. Delicious butterfinger dessert. Highly recommend.
We have been to Beckta several times in the past and usually at least once a year, but this evening was possibly the best experience we’ve had. We went from my wife’s birthday and we treated ourselves to the five course menu with wine pairing. I don’t think that we could have done a better selection. Each course was fantastic, but I have to admit that the duck was my personal favorite and the wine pairings were amazing. I strongly recommend Beckta to anyone who lives in Ottawa or is visiting Ottawa as a must go to restaurant. The Service from Cote check to server was kind, approachable, and professional, and well deserving of a gratuitous gratuity. We will certainly be back in the future and more likely on a regular basis as opposed to an annual basis
We had an early supper here and the food was outstanding. Lots of vegan and gluten free items to choose from. The buffet price is based on the weight on your plate. We’ll definitely go back when in the area.
Three of us had a late dinner this past Saturday night after getting a recommendation - boy are we glad we took that advice! We had excellent service, our server was knowledgeable and friendly and so accommodating. We ordered the charcuterie, burrata dish, little gem salad, brussel sprouts, scallops and the delicious chocolate and popcorn dessert. Wow, it was all so good but extra special was the burrata which was prepared with pickled cherries (wow!) and the brussel sprouts which were insanely flavorful. And wow, the chocolate dessert was really wild. Can't believe there was fennel ganache! What!? Definitely recommend Play if you're in ByWard Market/Downtown Ottawa!
A fantastic lunch experience at Mahal Tinjore! The food was flavorful and authentic, with a perfect balance of spices. We ordered dosa with mango lassi and it was delicious. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was attentive and friendly. Every dish was fresh and beautifully presented. Highly recommend for anyone craving delicious South Indian flavors!
I've been a fan since I first had dinner at Aroma Meze in 2017. I like the understated, relaxed, cosy vibe. Wide range of dishes and the "small plates" mean you can sample a lof of flavours at the one meal. Good for all types of dietary preferences. I'm from BC but I go to Ottawa regularly and this is a "must go" for me. I am really confident about providing an open review. And my colleagues feel the same way--it's a popular haunt.
Stopped in The Scone Witch for breakfast.This restaurant has good breakfast sandwiches with a good selection of scones for your sandwich.Coffee is real good too.
It was very busy and noisy the night we went and service with a tad slow. Our waiter was very helpful with the menu and explaining things. I had reviewed the menu on-line and had decided what I was going to order, however, I changed my mind after talking to our waiter. I ended up ordering the tempura fried green beans and prawns, I wasn't sorry. The meal was delicious, there was a generous amount of prawns and the flavours were wonderful.
I had the Valentine’s Day Special Seafood Dinner for take-out and all the courses were delicious. The shrimp cocktail contained larger shrimp, the clam chowder was creamy and tasty. I wish there had been a more, the sides of mashed potatoes and sliced carrots were artfully prepared. And the two lobsters were cooked to perfection. Instructions for heating were easy to understand. Pick up at the scheduled time was easy and well worth the drive of forty minutes each way.
