Bought a nice Navaho bowl and some turquoise earrings at a great price. Bill was warm and friendly, he and his daughter were super helpful and recommended other places to visit while in town.
The Gallup Cultural Center in downtown Gallup, NM hosts two museum, an information center and a cafe. Entrance is free.
At the information center (ground floor) you can get general information and brochures. The two museums are on the second floor: as you exit the elevator you have the museum dedicated to WW II Navajo Code Talkers on your right, and the museum dedicated to indigenous culture on your left.
Both museums are small, but they are very well organized, and a lot of information are provided at each display window.
Very interesting museum about the huge contributions made by the Navajo Code Talkers during WW II. The museum is small but full of great exhibits. The Navajo people are extremely proud of these true patriots, as they should be!!! A nice little stop if you're in the Gallup area.
This was an adventure not knowing what to expect. We were there shortly after opening and spent over 3 hours here. Local foods (delicious) lot of jewelry at different price points and everything found at any flea market from tools to tires to clothing and even some animals. Became very busy by noon with everyone having a good time. Love talking to the Natives and listening to them talk about their crafts. If you are here on a Saturday morning go check it out!
