An interesting look into the timber industry of years gone by. The NSW parks staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the area.

What a fantastic spot! Called into Baradine first and spoke to Michael at the Aboriginal centre who shared his knowledge of the area which was very much appreciated and then Sister Rose cafe for a bite to eat.Really appreciated the positive community feel. Then went to Scrub. If u r in the area, don’t miss this! It is absolutely beautiful and well worth hour or so walk. The sculptures are wonderful and the gorge so peaceful. A do r miss place!!

Nice Picnic area with tables,BBQ and clean toilets and water. A must do is to climb the viewing tower you will be amazed at the 360 degree views. The salt caves are interesting and an important Aboriginal site. If your into birds there is a nice walk to the salt dam plenty of opportunity to veiw or photograph them.

This is a stately looking building at the end of the Main Street, so it makes a statement for the town. The foundation stone was laid in November 1925 by John Witter Esq. which would indicate it was built for the First World War. There is another plaque that commemorates the hall to the memory of the men and women of the town and district who served in the Second World War. The plaque or stone marks the additions to the hall in 1953... at which point it was laid by L.J.Failes. M.P. I could find very little on John Witter who I believe may have been a Justice of the Peace for the area. L.J. Failes though had information about him, he is Laurence John "Laurie" Failes (6 October 1899 – 7 July 1976) an Australian politician. Born in Coonabarabran, New South Wales, he attended state schools and then Hawkesbury Agricultural College before becoming a farmer at Bugaldie and then a businessman at Coonabarabran. He served in World War II 1942–45. Fidelis Ad Urnam translates as faithful to the urn (faithful until death).
