While visiting the Castle of Alter do chaõ, you can take some nice pictures from this fountain who was built in the year 1556 by Teodósio I, Duke of Bragança bt on another location from where it was removed to the current one in the middle of the 17th century. The fountain is in the midle of the Castle and the Alamo house with the garden, all this is to do by foot. It has been classified as a Property of Public Interest since the year 1974.
This falconry is inserted in the Alter Stud Farm, it explains the noble art of hunting with falcons and the different species of falcons that exist. The falcons presented are noble and well cared for birds! What you have to know is that indeed there is a time table for to see the falcons fly, but, you have to inform you at first on the reception what is the correct time, because this all is depending on the weather and the heat during the day. All this we got explained by the person who is treating the falcons as his daily job. When you listen to him when he is explaining the way the falcons are treated, you will fully understand why there is no normal time table! The man lives for the falcons and is very competent, more than worth the visit, and also not to forget is that you have to pay a fee for the show and the visit of the museum.
Local incrível,tudo bem conservado.vale mt a pena ,fui com a minha filha de 1 ano e qd chegamos ao 2.º piso da casa , na área da sala de visitas ela ficou assustada e eu tb senti um arrepio (talvez estivesse assombrado LOL ) mas fora isso a casa é linda e o jardim mt bonito e tem uma área para as crianças brincarem.
When you are visiting “Alter do Chaõ”, it also worth to have a short stop-over to visit this church. It is a temple made in the baroque and rococo architecture. All the renovations were carried out during the 17th and 18th centuries. For instance the main chapel's altarpiece and that of Saint Michael the Archangel stand out, both Baroque. Nothing very special, but even so worth the visit.
