Cute location but not a restaurant I’d recommend for lunch. I had a hot dog and fries and my husband had a poboy sandwich. The meals were just ok at best. The tour bus customers passing through made for lots of chaos and commotion. Admittedly we didn’t try the ice cream which is the whole point of a ‘soda fountain’. I wish we had just visited and then eaten somewhere else. Disappointing relative to other vintage drugstore soda fountains I’ve eaten at in recent years. Still I wish the owners well and hope their business prospers. A locally owned place is always important for a town.
A hidden gem with history over 160 years. The oldest drugstore in America still operated by the same family. Came at the end of the lunch hour and was placed was super busy with diners and those just getting ice cream. Luckily there was an open table but it took awhile for order to be taken. Once ordered, food came out quick and it was delicious. The portion size was perfect. Left enough room for dessert. Ordered a peanut butter sundae with vanilla ice cream. All I can say is wow wow wow! Highly recommend this place for lunch if you are in town and love American historical places.
Usually, the food is great. The service is always a little bad because they are so busy and very few waitresses. Today, not only was the service bad, but the food was absolutely terrible! I was completely disgusted after waiting 15 minutes for a waitress to come over, then another 15 minutes to receive a drink. We didn't get our food for another 25 - 30 minutes, and it was the worst I've ever eaten.
