Having had my hair done at Kings Domain next door, we met up with our son and his husband for a drink. The weather was very hot, 36, but outside in the warm breeze it was very inviting and the Australian Rose, went down very well indeed. The great selection of the tapas added to the summery, for us, feel. Just lovely.
Surrounded by old timbers and expensive wines, this is a pleasant place to sit. You do not have to drink alcohol as the coffee is readily available and good to drink. I ordered a Croque Monsieur and it took a long time to come. I think the staff got distracted by other customers and the crust of the bread was well burnt. Anyhow, the service otherwise was good and I was offered all that I needed, including water.
Why haven't I been here before?! Great range of wines which you can browse from the fridge and shelves which is my favourite way to explore before making your choice. I was impressed with the pricing too, solid wines from $50 upwards.
Staff were really switched on, helpful and more than happy to provide suggestions. We were able to order in pizza through a place a few doors down which was also delicious.
The only downsides were the charcuterie board which was pretty stinge for $40 and that they closed at 9pm despite the place still heaving, but that might be a liquor licensing thing given the local area.
Super impressed, especially with the wines on offer and staff - definitely worth a visit. Easily accessible from Toorak train station if you want to enjoy a few.
